Teen Mental Health

On a National level, teen mental health is a rising concern with about one out of five youth between the ages of 4-16 suffering from some type of psychiatric disorder.

According to the Ottawa Public Health Youth Facts from 2011, who conducted a survey in the Ottawa catholic and public school board, 12% of students considered attempting suicide in the past year.

With numbers like these, it is clear that it is time for social change. According to the Canadian Psychiatric Association, information about mental health care resources is only reaching 1 in 6 youth in Canada.

On October 25th, Kaleidoscope of Hope (KOH), a wonderful organization who’s focus is on teen mental health will be hosting a benefit Gala to raise awareness of this disease and support their partner organizations such as DIFD, Ottawa Senators Foundation, and CHEO.

We at sokjok invite you to join us in supporting the development of our youth in your local community.
